    Hi Niko,
    I’m Adnan from Bosnia.I have BMW E34 with m106 engine.
    Specifications of engine is:
    * Garrett Gt35 twinscroll turbo
    * Big intercooler
    * 76mm pipes from/to IC
    * Chip tuning from Jarmo Havulinna
    * Adjustable fuel regulator
    * O-Ring headgasket
    * m30b35 head
    * m30b35 intake manifold with throttle on other side
    * exhaust manifold one by one cylinder
    * Turbosmart external wastegate 38mm
    * Two additional fuel injectors in intake
    * Greeddy blow off
    * Two Walbro fuel pumps
    * ….etc….
    Now I buy new fuel injectors and car shoking from idle to 3500rpm because it is to many fuel in that range.I need reprogram this EPROM,how can I reduce fuel in down side before car get in boost.

      Hi Adnan,

      You can try free program called tuner pro for changing M106 fuel maps. But i think you would be better of with modern management replacing old factory stuff. Especially if you do not have original automatic in place. With so many nice modifications you are quite off original setup and it can be hard to have it spot on or even close. All the best, Niko.

    Okay, sorry do not have it. Quick solution is to read and combine binaries from both chips and use it as single 64K file. When done modifying split it two again and make new eproms. Good luck !

    Any recommendations for the up grade and place to order from or any parts you may have?

      If head is manufactured on or after september 1984, substrates are not needed according to BMW technical bulletin.

        As it is a 1984 mod I need to find the production month to be sure.
        By the way, I only put unleaded fuel inside the other big six BMW that I have without any problem so far, it is a 3553cc 1979 6er.
        But special valve requires special features I guess on stelit (I believe) exhaut valves of the M106.
        Just thoughts…

        I will the check the production period on the cylinder head.
        However the “memory effect” of lead left over the valve seats is a tremendously interesting fact!
        I will no longer worry about that while enjoying the endless torque sensation of this brilliant engine.

      Hello John,

      Here are vacuum lines from my memory.

      Intake side: fuel pressure regulator, engine breather pipe, knock box line, HVAC system (check valve). These all connect to bottom side of intake manifold.
      Exhaust side: magnetic valve bottom and two top connections (see Files/BMW M106 repair files/last page).

      Sensors are very similar to automatic M30 engines with two exceptions: knock sensors fixed to block (cyl 1&6), this on intake side. Cyl id loop on ignition wire no 1.

    Hello and Good day

    I recently started on an m106 swap into a 1984 325e. I salvaged the engine from a 1986 bmw 745I so far I have collected the m106 paired with a ZF 4 Hp22 4 speed automatic both were out of the same 745i. I have the engine harness and transmission harness with shifter and luckily I was able to get the Motronic Ecu and transmission controller box however the wiring for the knock box was cut and I ended up buying a knock box off Ebay. The only other parts I know needed for the swap are engine mount arms and I need to source a front sump oil pan and pickup tube.

    I ran into issues finding wiring diagrams with c101 connector pinouts to re pin the chassis c101 plug on my 325e to the m106. If anyone knows where I can get the diagrams for the c101 on the 1986 745i turbo it would be an enormous help.

    any help is greatly appreciated

    There has been an idea in the back of my head for a few months now: increase the boost pressure when the transmission’s program switch is set to ‘S’, otherwise leave it at 0,6 bar. Any thoughts on this?

    Said switch is connected to the gearbox controller (2b.1:S3 to :K3), which in turn is connected to the engine control unit (2b.1:X10 to 2.6:B). According to some documentation, the switch not only influences the behavior of the gearbox, but also keeps boost pressure up a little longer. If this is the case, there must be a signal present at 2.6:B, indicating the switch has been set to ‘S’, which triggers something in the program of the knock control unit or ECU. Have you ever dug into this?

    Also: I’d like to buy a couple of the parts you have left 🙂

      Hi Lukas!

      Unfortunately, i have no idea how gearbox and engine electronics come together. In BMW documentation it is said ignition timing is delayed during upshifts, there is no word on other interactions i think. I have read off internet too, that boost would be higher while in program S. I have never been able to verify this, yet it could be that i have almost always had 3.2L wastegate. My engine management is “out of map” and trying correct to preset values. I asked this question too from very long time 745i owner, he said it is not correct.

      Do you know how to adjust boost in ECU software? I will send you e-mail regarding parts.

        I don’t intend to increase the power in the first place. It is at least, to eliminate intempestive injection cut-out that happens oddly sometimes.

        it could be a dangerous issue, while overtaking, for example. I oftenly clean the waste gate to avoid that but it persists without any clue to anticipate this phenomenon.

        The car have inconsistent pulls. My butt dyno can feel it 😀. It is always a surprise how stronger or weaker would be the next one.

        And when the pull is quite hard, I fear a cut out to happen very soon… . It ruins a bunch of the overall driving experience distilled by this wonderful machine.

        Hi JP,

        My first thought is that I would advise against removing boost cut function, just because of inconsistent pulls. Try to fix this first.

        I have had very similar experience and the main culprit was M102 wastegate / harder spring. It will raise boost very close to cut-out limit. Acceleration is very dependent on throttle pedal position, a little more and injection would die in my case.

        I am ready to fix the issue first and allow more boost via a dedicated chip later.

        Standard power is already quite impressive to me and as the open diff (sadly…)
